One of my favorite quotes is from Billionaire investor Warren Buffet: “The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say “no” most of the time.” If we want to accomplish something significant with our lives, we have to say no to lots of other things. Will you live your best life or your second best life? Co-founder and former CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs put it this way:
“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.”
Are you focusing on the things you should be focusing on, and saying no to everything else? Are you saying no to the harsh critics and destructive people who shouldn’t be in your life or business? Are you saying no to the million distractions that surround us every day?
When was the last time you said no? Maybe it’s time…
