Technology Is Allowing Companies to Start with Fewer People

Maybe now is the time to start that project you’ve always dreamed about.  A recent Kaufman Foundation study indicates that start-ups are being launched with an average of only 4.9 employees – down from 7.5 in the 1990’s.  It’s a long term change brought about by more sophisticated software and technology that allows entrepreneurs to farm out tasks to computers rather than humans.  It may sound like bad news for workers, but the truth is, it’s helping create more and more companies – the long term effect of which is more jobs for more people.

Now – thanks to technology – it doesn’t take a pile of money, lots of equipment, or a huge staff to launch your dream idea.

But one thing that hasn’t changed – you still need to get off you fanny and make it happen.

  1. Indeed, bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, “We have Abraham as our father or Jesus as our Savior.”  For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones of sand (microchips). And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees.

      1. Phil,

Please let me help with the interpretation. Your article’s title starts with the word “Technology”. Modern technology uses silicon to create microchips. A source for silicon includes sand. Some ministries get more done for God with fewer humans, because they now use machines that function with artificial intelligence operating with microchips made from sand. So, some of God’s children are robots.

A very generous “techie” interpretation of Matthew 3:9 and Luke 3:8. (You’ve earned a PhD in Theology and you didn ‘t understand that – ?  😉

  2. Absolutely. Gotta love technology.

Funny you should post this, Phil, when I’ve only recently reduced the number of partners I need for the start-up I’m working on – from 8 to 4.

  3. This is true that technology makes our life so more developed and every day we find more new invention those are more useful for us. I hope such kind of technology will be so more popular day by day.
