How did you decide where to direct your gift to help the people in Haiti?

Gave to World Vision at request of a friend celebrating their birthday.

gave to watermissions.org

I have not given yet

I organized an event at our spas to donate 20% of our sales on Feb 23rd to Haiti which will be a significant gift and staff is inspired to do it.

I think I will make a trip to Lexington!

Voted through my Church but it was actually through my Church for a ministry (Compassion) that my Church supports in other parts of the world.

I watched George Clooney's telethon and gave to "Love A Child" through Joyce Meyer Ministries.

The first time I was in church for a service was the Friday night after the earthquake and I was both shocked and offended that no mention at all was made of Haiti. They took up an offering for tithes and one later for a visiting missionary teacher.

I gave to three organizations I have been their with and seen the work. But had I been asked in church, I would have done that.

I decided to give directly to my home church who is partnering with World Relief. It's good knowing that 100% of what I give is going directly to relief efforts on the ground in Haiti.

We gave to Convoy of Hope through my local radio station's on-air fundraiser and my church, the Salvation Army, also to World Vision (I've sponsored for years), and several local/national organizations where I personally know those involved. I think it's important to donate to organizations that have been in Haiti for some time.

I gave to Compassion (through which I already support a child in a developing country.) I did not care for their radio ad for Haiti...I know there is a great need, but I typically do not respond to highly emotional appeals. When they sent me a direct mail request, however, I decided to give through them because they have a reputation for trustworthiness in distributing contributions.

People in our neighborhood distrust religious and charitable institutions and would rather contribute directly, so Ginger has started a collection of canned food and clothing, which is filling my living room. I think this all started when there was that spurious rumor that UPS would ship to Haiti for free. I'm not saying I agree with her approach.

I gave to the Haiti Orphan Relief Team (http://www.haitiorphanrelief.org), a group dedicated to equipping Haitian churches to care for the orphans of Haiti. HORT is made up of several trusted organizations including World Orphans, Christian Alliance for Orphans, Together for Adoption, Hope for Orphans, Lifesong for Orphans, and several more.

We gave to a pastor we know & trust that had a specific need and was there. Had a hard time just throwing it to a general fund

I held off on texting a gift to the Red Cross although the appeals were everywhere. As soon as Compassion offered a text gift opportunity, we did that. I think that's going to be a very inviting option for future appeals, at least those related to urgency.

Our church threw support behind Samaritan's Purse because of their infrastucture for quick response. Now we continue to fill trucks with donated items and we are leasing a couple of acres in Haiti to set up a base for ongoing ministry.

Gave through my church. All funds earmarked for Haiti go to Haiti and not to their general fund. Also we already supported a missionary with an orpanage over there. We also send members, one being from Haiti who went to help and was also able to find his dad.
